Mountain owners of Armenia protested the attempt of Mauritanian authorities to seize their property. Two young oligarchs, who currently own the mountain find it unfair that a foreign country wants to cut the mountain and transport it to Nouakchott, capital of Mauritania.
Ashot Smbatyan, a 12-year old young mogul, claimed that the mountain was his gift for 10th birthday and he really enjoys sliding down on his sleighs every winter.
The other side of the conflict, Sidi Ould Cheikh Abdallahi, President of Mauritania, who came to power last year as a result of coup d’etat, insists that the ancient writings in Mauritanian caves clearly state the origin of the mountain.
Mauritania already sent 12 giant chainsaws to Armenia in other to cut the mountain.
“If this farse proceeds I’ll be forced to send the case to European courts, and make sure my team of lawyers wins” was the reaction of 9-year old tycoon, Smbat Grigoryan.
Armenian authorities deny any conflict with Mauritania, though maintaining the don’t-ask-don’t-tell policy is becoming increasingly difficult.
